Someone asked me the other day what wireless security camera they should buy. Well, the answer to that depends upon what you are trying to accomplish. Are you trying to monitor something inside a home, outside a home, inside a business area. Are you monitoring employees or trying to make sure that nobody is lurking around your house at night. Generally speaking, you should first decide what you are going to secure. Then when you have decided that, you can pick the right tool for the job.
This is a review for the Swann SW233-BDM wireless security camera. It’s main intent is to act as a child monitoring camrea. Let me say just a few words of practical wisdom about that. No camera can replace responsible adult supervision. Some people expect the technology to solve their problems but it may create greater problems. You can’t rely on a camera for safety for your kids. Mainly because you are likely going to miss the screen when they do somehting to get in trouble. Research shows that adults who are monitoring security screens as security guards miss important things. They are staring at the screen constantly.
That all being said, this camera would be great at putting in your babies room to substitute as a baby monitor. Consider those old baby monitors of old. They would let you know when your baby was crying, but with just a speaker and a transmitter, that doesn’t do much good. With the video though, you can know if your child truely needs you. This is nice if your child has some difficulty falling asleep but you don’t want to check on them every 5 minutes to see if they are asleep.
Let’s look at the pros and cons of this device:
Pros – Some of the features are nice such as the music feature on the camera where you an play music out through the camera to your child.
Cons – Somewhat limited range – consider this if you have a large house or lots of walls in between where you and your baby will be.
