So you have a handy dandy security system but you need to monitor it while you are away from your home. There are several apps for the Iphone that you may like. Several of these allow you to view multiple live camera feeds at the same time. Some of the more expensive ones are listed here along with some of the less expensive options.
If you are purchasing this product for monitoring your home security system, then consider one of the lower priced applications. If you want to monitor security cameras at your business, then it may be worth the extra money to upgrade to some of the more expensive packages. Here are some of the packages and their prices:
iRa Pro which retails at $899.99. The iRa Pro is made by Lextech Labs. With it you can switch through hundreds of cameras at one time. I might point out that this application only gets 3 stars at Apple. That’s not steller. To me, if I am going to pay $900 for a piece of software, I would like for it to get more than 3 stars by reviewers. That system supports controlling of cameras, but you may not need that for a home system. There are honestly not too many home cameras that pan / tilt / zoom that are very good.
You can buy their other version for $499.99 which is the iRa Direct. My viewpoint on this is that I wouldn’t purchase a product from them if their major product has some problems.
What about the cheap end of the spectrum where most people are at. You can get a product called Mobiscope for a grand total of $9.99. That’s more like a realistic ballpark. What does Mobiscope support? According to their site, their software can do the following:
* Watch real time webcam video stream on your mobile. Keep an eye on your children even when away from home; See your loved one at any time when separated by distance or observe your work place and employees in the office during trips.
* Get motion detection alerts over email. Be notified of all motion detections and instantly watch a video stream from a place you observe or look trough the recordings later.
* Almost any web / network camera support. You can watch up to 4 web / network cameras simultaneously. Supported network cameras.
* New! Hear sound from the cameras connected to Mobiscope Desktop. (The feature is supported by Mobiscope Web service and Mobiscope Client for BlackBerry)
So I really like the motion detection option. That is pretty cool for security. And you really can’t beat the price. You can consider some higher priced applications for business use. There are a couple of things here to note. You are monitoring security cameras connected to a computer. So your home security camera would need to be connected to a computer. This is because Mobiscope is installing software on that computer to connect everything.
Mobiscope uses 128 bit security so that your transmissions are encrypted and protected.
